I'm not sure we're ever not working, so I'm not sure what you'd be negotiating. I sent out a proposal this morning, and am playing golf (I know, I know) with a past client tomorrow. I also went to my kid's last hockey game on Friday at 3PM. The idea of saying 'I don't work and am not reachable on Mondays' doesn't fit with this job.
Does it matter as an MD how many hours you put in as long as you're growing the book ?
Enthusiast
Who is watching your hours as MD? Why would they care. As long as you bring in enough business no one cares.
Block it off. At our levels, people up and down are more respectful of our protected time.
Just be good. Really good. Then you can work as much it as little as you’d like. But first, be good.
You’re the MD. Nobody’s telling you what to do on a day to day basis. You’re measured on results. You work when you want.
Can we negotiate it down to a five day workweek…?
Nobody cares how many hours you work a week. Key is making numbers and all the other impact framework stuff. Conversely, nobody cares if you work 80+ hours either. Invest whatever time you want
Yes - compressed work week accommodation. 4x10. Do you have a medical/mental health diagnosis? Some co’s will require that.
Are you willing to give up some comp? Might be easier to negotiate a reduction in your targets if you’re having trouble?
We have an actual flex program for 80% and 60% capacity for partners
I did it for a period of time when I was a director - but it was a simpler time where I was spending most of my time on one large client who was supportive. Given the current environment of so much time slicing across multiple clients, it would be much harder. Maybe in a good market with strong demand
As long as your numbers are there idk if anyone cares
