I went from selling salesforce implementations to selling salesforce product.
I have seen it before and I think it’s very possible, people in delivery are smart! If you are the type of person who can be personable, isn’t a robot, and can understand the basic MEDDPICC framework, definitely possible.
Big question becomes finding a place where you can jump right into an AE role without having to be a BDR. It’s definitely possible.
You may also want to look into sales engineering
What is your current comp? And how many yoe? Entry level tech sales positions are about 40-60k base and like 60-80k OTE. Can be more depending on the company.
I’d look into account executive roles if that’s the case. And as for comp it varies i know some Enterprise AE’s making over 400k OTE and some making 100k. I’d say being an AE would be less stressful depending on the company.
I think SE is a more common path but have seen a few at my company go into AEs. Avg AE OTE $200-300k for enterprise
What’s the company name? :)
Transitioned from principal architect to AP in solutions. My total comp went up a bit but since I’m capped on commission my workload went way down. Right now I’m working at about 10% of capacity as there’s so little requirements and no incentive to push.
Sales is so much easier than delivery. You can fluff on sales, delivery you have to be dead on or delivery suffers and you have problems.
WLB is way up.
All in is more.
Satisfaction is about 0.

What product are you working with? Should be able to move into an SE/SA role with a bump in comp from your current role, from there you could move into direct sales for a slight bump in base comp but with the potential to make much more.
I’ve worked with salesforce before, but more focused on Veeva in the last 5 years
I went from ACN to MSFT. 5 YOE.
My understanding is folks can make 250k plus avg for level I came in at.
Last few years due to pandemic and shift to cloud I hear of folks who made 400k at my level.
I'm not sure on WLB comparison since I'm fairly new and beginning my first cycle but it doesn't seem that different at least to start.
My schedule is def much more packed now but it is a lot more talking with customers/team members and less doing
I went from being the project manager/functional lead on sales force implementations at a SI to a SE at Salesforce. Comp increased by around ~50%, equivalent to approx 3 years of organic comp growth at my previous firm. WLB also significantly better. Best part is I don’t have to deal with the details of implementation, just need to sell the clients on the big picture and strategy, then let the SI figure out “how” to make it happen
This is the best part!
