No it’s been my experience as well! I don’t feel like I am hearing back from jobs more or less compared to other times I’ve searched for work.
No this is definitely common in NY too now. Many jobs asking for 5+ years of experience for a manager role are at 80-100k in marketing. Way off the mark imo, that’s the range someone should be making for 5+ years of experience in a *non-management* role. Management should be 110-130k.
This definitely isn’t just you! It’s a huge problem in the job market!
If your only source for finding work in the job market is job posts, you will see a lot of this.
What other sources besides LinkedIn and Indeed would you recommend?
Typically depends on the company too. If you look at some of the top companies in the us, what you’ll notice is a job looking for 2+ or 3+ years of experience. But due to the pay and the nature of the work, they are actually targeting 7+. Usually will not hire someone with only 2 years.
I have 8 years of PM experience and 5 years of account management experience with a partial bachelors degree. It is very unfortunate that completed degree is a deal breaker. I have seen it proven time and time again that new hires with the degree and only a few years (if any at all) can’t hack it. They make costly mistakes.
It also seems as though every company wants turn-key candidates with previous experience that aligns 100% with their commodity so that there is no product learning curve.
