I remember at that level CD’s or the producer sometimes frantically coming to me last second saying “we need a directors brief! we need wardrobe moodboards/briefs! Props! Locations!”
Those were all details I wasn’t familiar with and didn’t realize required input from our team. (Sometimes that input is as simple as sending the production company moodboards of your team’s vision for each detail and then they handle it). Not all productions require lots of input from the agency but if I was you I would approach your producer or CD and ask them “Are there any details such as warddrobe, props, locations, casting (I’m probably forgetting stuff) that I can get ahead of? And help out with?”
The CD or senior creatives on your project may be handling it all, or maybe the production company is, but reach out and check and offer your help. Better to get ahead of it then have the last minute requests come in when you’re already busy on new projects and can’t put your best effort into it.
Sorry this is long. But I just want to recommend talking to them and trying your best to help with making those kind of production decks, moodboards and briefs because as a junior you don’t always get to go on the physical shoot, but at least you’ll be able to say you were involved. Not on set, but “I did this and this and this”.
Hope that helps.
Yes.
Yes it’s always helpful and much appreciated if someone junior takes the initiative to ask and offer help or even put forward suggestions of how you might be able to help instead of waiting for marching orders. Even if there isn’t, it shows proactiveness.
Another suggestion is, you can always ask to shadow your senior even if there is nothing you can help with. Just ask if you can watch and learn as really keen to continue to support the process through learning and growing.
Yes. Are you doing A/B testing? If so then you should get reports on how the creative is performing
