Is it typical for a hiring firm to ask for proof of current earnings?

I guess they want to figure out whether I’ve been truthful in what my current comp is (I haven’t)

Yes. Also had to provide 5 c-suite client references and phone numbers for my background check

That's insane.

I thought it was made illegal in US.

Have been asked payslips in the past yes. And if you’re on target earnings (likely as you are partner) it’s normal due diligence

Prolly more typical after they out you 😂

They can figure most of this out if they grab data from theworknumber (it contains about as much details as your credit report but for earnings) so be careful about misleading

Years ago I was in a direct admit process. While I hadn’t mislead, I also hadn’t been forthcoming. So they obviously decided to do an end-around and ask my last tax return. Well I had gotten a huge severance bump the prior year on the way out the door. So that set me up well for the comp discussions.

Just moved into an apartment in Old Town. The insulation for both sound and heat is terrible. I can hear everything going on outside and am nervous that the heat/gas bill will be insane.

We live near a train stop (~200 yards away) and hear it crystal clear.

Do you think my landlord will do anything to fix it if we ask? I’m more concerned about the noise. Any tips?

Working for a senior who is beyond horrible. She talks to you like you’re stupid and makes it sound like you’re absolutely terrible at what you’re doing. She’s made 5 other associates cry during her 5 year career. Got someone fired and made another person quit. It’s known around the office that she can no longer have a female associate, because she talks down to females more than she does males. I came along and thought I could deal with it but she literally makes me want to not log on tomorrow.

My boyfriend and I make 200K combined and live in NJ. We have $1000 in monthly car payments combined. That’s all we owe. Our credit scores are in the 800s. We have 50K to put down on a home. We have done the math and I know we can afford much more but he doesn’t want to buy more than a 400K home. I’m almost positive we can afford 500K and be more than ok. But then he starts to talk about how much kids cost and how we will be house poor and we won’t be able to afford kids. 🤔 Am I insane??
