Is now truly that terrible of a time to visit the United States? I was planning to bring my family this summer—mainly to the East Coast for a mix of history, nature, and a couple of beach days. But with so many people avoiding the U.S. due to current events, and some countries even issuing travel advisories, I’m starting to second guess the whole thing. I don’t want to cancel over fear, but I also don’t want to ignore legitimate concerns. For those of you who live in or recently visited the U.S., what’s your take...is it still safe and worthwhile, or are the risks too real to ignore right now?

Honestly, the U.S. should be on everyone’s travel advisory list. No universal healthcare, unpredictable violence, and the prices? There are better, safer, and cheaper places to explore.
I live here. It’s fine. The travel boycotts are due to disagreeing with policy but you and your family will be fine and safe. The news sensationalizes a lot, but on the micro level, down here with all us regular folk, my day to day is normal.
If I didn’t watch the news, then nothing would be amiss. Your family will be fine on vacation. You won’t notice a difference.
Now is actually a great time to visit the US, since the dollar isn't as strong as it was just two months ago. If there are fewer tourists coming here, then that makes things easier for you, right?
But you do you, it's a big world out there with many wonderful places to see.
I live here in NYC. Everything is pretty normal if you don't watch television.
Where are you traveling from? Honestly, I don’t understand the appeal of the US. You can find a lot of what’s here with more history for a lot less $ elsewhere.
Honestly, the vast majority of people cancel because they oppose the Trump policies and choose not to support the US with their wallet. It's not so much about actual dangers or fears.
As for the people getting denied entry...well you'll notice there's a common theme there and would've happened under any administration.
I can't imagine why you'd want to come here unless you want to see 100 year old imitations of things you can see in Europe or strip malls.
Oh, come on. There's nothing like the Grand Canyon in Europe. There's nothing like Yosemite. Or the Redwood Forrests in Nor Cal. Nothing like Palm Springs. No city quite like Miami, or New Orleans, or Manhattan, or Charleston, or Nashville. No beaches at all like the ones we have along the Gulf of America.
I love many countries in Europe, was just in Italy in February and will spend May in UK, Germany, France, Monaco, but that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of things to see and do here in the US that you can't do in Europe.
