Is NYC safe to visit with young kids?

No they will be abducted and sold to a sex ring. 🙄

Apologies for the New York humor here, but please understand how some people might think this a silly question.
Yes, NYC is safe specially if you stick to the tourist areas and don't wonder off to bad neighborhoods, you'll know right away as you stop seeing tourist and see more questionable characters.
You might see a few crazies in the train, but they usually keep to themselves, so don't stare at them.
If you go to Time Square, avoid the costume people, they will try to force you to take pictures and if you do they will harass you for a tip.
Central Park still a great place to visit as well as other parts.
If you like skyscrapers the ones I always recommend are the One Vanderbilt summit and One World Trade center, any other is just wasted money.
Enjoy your time and keep the kids close as the crowds in some areas get heavy and they might get lost.

No

No they will have a fantastic time and eventually force and cajole you into moving here, at which point you will bleed yourself dry with insane rents and outrageous activities. Horrific really.

likeuplifting

Not a bit. They’ll realize how much better it is than where you live and constantly lobby you to move here.

I went to nyc 1-2x a year from ages 3-18 and the worst thing that happened to me was I decided to spend $4K a month to leave here (low key robbery but worth it!)

It depends on if these are smart young kids or not? Do they look, both ways, before darting on into the streets? Do they pay attention to their surroundings instead of being in their headphones not realizing crazy attackers are approaching?

helpful

No. God no. There’s a playground every 5 blocks, free kids events at every park, theatre, and museum, an incredible tutor for damn near every subject, a beach and amusement park reachable by train, and every firehouse/police station/train station/etc is staffed with kid-friendly people.

It’s not safe - stay away.

funny

Where do you live? And then tell us the the violent crime per capita statistics compared to NYC with your sources.

I better warn all the parents with small kids in my building to move to the burbs

No, but I know nothing about NY, just take my word for it anyway.

Everywhere in the world has safe and unsafe areas. Touristy areas of NYC are safe for families. That's why they're still touristy.

Yes. You’ll be fine.

Just make sure they stand on the right side of the escalator and they’ll be fine. No promises otherwise.

If adults are traveling with them, it’s fine. just mind your own business and don’t venture off to seedy parts of the city. It’s as safe as any major European cities.

It’s safe just inconvenient

I’m struggling to find a full time job right now. I have 16 months of internship experience at a Big4, a 4 month internship at a well known bank and a 12 month internship at a boutique consulting firm.

My gpa is subpar (3.2/4.0) but I have strong extracurriculars and have been working full time while taking full time classes.

Hi all,
I just moved here so this might be a dumb question so please don’t judge. Why does my laundry smell like pee and how can I fix it? I used a common washer and dryer in my building. Is it because of that? Is it mold? Is it the water? I air dry my workout leggings and they all smell really weird and I don’t know what to do 😔
