Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

This is my personal opinion. I wouldn’t put ex anything , unless i were a very high level executive there. I would rather highlight my current job and role
Just like I won’t advertise my ex gf , unless they were Hollywood celebs
Ex-MBB Associate = you dated Steve Buscemi
Ex-MBB Partner = you dated Tom Hanks
Ex-MBB CEO = you dated Brad Pitt
Ok?
I wouldn’t do that. In my country, Big4 is not that selective and recruiters know that. While “ex-MBB” is still a bit cringe, I have to admit it makes sense since the simple fact that you got into such a selective company signals your worth
It’s called big 4 bc everyone and their mother works for them. Its not special.

I’d say it’s notable enough but whoever does it looks like a lame.

Do what you like man. These things don’t matter. Own whatever you want to go with.

ONCE A MARINE ALWAYS A MARINE! HOOOORAH
I am ex-Big 4 and T2 and exited to industry. Putting the “ex-XYZ” on LI is cringe it also tells me you are consumed with your past rather than building your future.
One of the grads in my team recently changed his header to
Client growth Unicorn | Entrepreneur | EMBA
Tempted to ask him to add “rrasing” onto the last one… whilst his ambition is admirable, he has never sat in a sales meeting or even wrote a bid, has never owned a business nor shown any entrepreneurial traits in his work and hasn’t even submitted his EMBA application yet…
I’ve lost track of where I was going with this, glad to have shared now though…
I guess what I am saying is, people seem to put whatever garbage comes to their mind. If I clicked onto a LinkedIn page as a hiring manager and saw ex-B4 (which isn’t exclusive at all) it would raise more questions than answers… also quite disrespectful to the current employer.
There is so much more about the employee in question I could write a best selling novel about it…
Alas, I’m letting his line manager, manage, for now… good learning curve for him. That however, will certainly be my advice when it is sought!
Ex Deloitte definitely 🤭
Who cares? You're asking a group of your peers. Are *they* hiring managers? Are they who you aspire to work with?

Worthless to put ex-anything in your headline. If the recruiter/company wants someone with B4 experience, they’ll include that in their search.

Lol “exBig4”
Putting ex anything is cringe, in my opinion.
Probably better to write the former employer name eg ex-Deloitte digital than a general ex Big4
Ex-IBM babyy!
