One person's experience after 4 years in PE Ops post MBB
Comp: 2X+ vs. comparable MBB path and diverging fast
Hours: 50-70 with little weekend work (except on live deals)
Stress: Different stress vs MBB. Short term pressure only when doing late stage live deals. Always longer term pressure and accountability on actual performance of your deals.
Overall, fewer hours, more comp, more flexibility, better exit ops, more rewarding job for those who like actually making things happen and capturing the value.
Mind if I DM? Interviewing at MF ops groups right now.
I'm at an UMM firm on the ops team and compared to deal team I'd say I work ~60% as many hours for 75% of the pay. I've found the stress to be less than consulting, but to be fair I haven't been involved in diligence work yet in this role. Overall extremely happy with the move from consulting
How does the pay differ in % comparing to your previous consulting job?

Anecdotally have heard WLB is much better on Ops side and comp a bit lower. Have nothing quantitative to share though

Person I spoke with came from T2 consulting and said the hours are comparable. So I’m guessing an average range of 60-80 per week
