Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

The only times I felt I had the upper hand were when I truly did not care if I got the job or not. When it's a position you really want, or you're out of work, it's very difficult to pull off. You're willing to do just about anything to get the job, which results in you being some degree of obsequious.

Yeah j guess if you care it’s hard to really negotiate, not caring whether you get the job does give you that extra leg up.
Confidence.

I’d love to know too. I feel I’m always intimidated.
Coach
Me too, it’s not a great feeling.
The entire employment industry is conspiring to keep you on your back foot. The fact you can see it and acknowledge it gives you the advantage of being able to see and strategize beyond what they expect. Use that.
Coach
Yeah I agree, it’s built around companies having the upper hand and it sucks.
If there is, I have not figured it out yet. I always feel the same way you do. I feel like I am flying blind and doing the best I can to get through it.
Coach
Yeah it’s so hard to get a grip over it, I think that’s purposeful too so the companies keep the upper hand.
