You will like it until you settle down.
Between your settling down and before having kid, you will be mopping around and complain why you have to travel.
You will then look for every excuse to travel again once your kids are around 5 yrs old.
I liked traveling when my kids were babies and needed a lot of care.
Now they are elementary aged I really do enjoy seeing them. Being home more would be ideal, but it’s also nice to have more focused time together on the weekends vs barely seeing them during the week.
I found that it gets old fast, but it all depends on where you’re travelling to and if you enjoy waking up at 5AM every Monday
This is nuts, to be honest I’ve left at 10am or after on Mondays the last 4 weeks. On a long-term project and the project leader doesn’t want us to burn out. He told me to go home on Wednesday last week.
How is anyone here supposed to know if *you* would like it, without knowing anything about you besides your age and gender? Not really personality traits or interests
I love it
I like M-Th but my recent M-F gig has me overwhelmed with keeping things in order, like bills, prescription refills, yard work, etc.
23F Here
Pros:
-save money since I pocket the per diem and put the money toward my loans
-also save money from not doing trivial shit during the week with my friends in NYC
-status with airlines and hotels
Cons
-dates are crunched into Fri and Sat
-pretty difficult to get a doctor’s appointment
-Thursday is the worst day of my week (delayed flight for the past 9 weeks)
-If you do get close to someone, if they don’t understand your schedule, they’ll end it with you
My pros outweighs my cons.
I love it too!
It gets old traveling weeks on end, but I generally like it. Nice to escape all the realities of the real world with nothing but a suitcase and a laptop bag. 😁
I’ve found the best part, and really the only part I ever enjoyed, was having a group of similarly minded/aged people around in [not their city]. Have made some work-friends and friend friends that I’ll probably keep in touch with for a while.
Also points/free flex travel/status are nice.
When I was single traveling was great. Now have a wife and hate it ...
Depends on the project and location. I personally love the lifestyle of “living” in two different cities and constantly being in transit. Word of warning (and interested to hear if anyone else feels this way), it’s hard to maintain a social life because by the time the weekend comes around you might be out of the social loop of your friends, or tired from the travel.
