Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
McKinsey & Company Has any industry experienced candidates pivot to MBB Engagement Manager before? My roommate works at FAANG as Senior Analyst (Ops, 6+ YOE) and was approached by McKinsey & Company recruiter for an EM role. He hasn’t done consulting before. Would this be too much of a risk? His goal is to pivot to PE S&O eventually.

@Deloitte OP “ I can see why you feel the way you do but you have to remain positive and still be prepared for the best and worst. I truly believe all things happen for the better whether we feel or see it. Please keep that in mind as you continue to move forward”
I would not give up until they tell me! My opinion
Wait for the severance package, probably worth it to wait it out
Let me get this straight: you like the ship you’re on but are leaning over the edge thinking of jumping because you *might* fall off?
I mean this helpfully: do you have anxiety issues? Do you see a therapist? You’re letting negative thoughts take control of your rationality, and these negative thoughts could cause you to spiral
The fact that people are getting laid off is not a reason to quit...
OP, what offering are you in, are you staffed, and what are your skills? If you like it here, I wouldn’t jump on the assumption you might get laid off.
If you have a history of compliance violations or underperformance (quality of work and/or utilization), you MAYBE should be worried but only enough to brush up your resume and LinkedIn and see what’s out there. If these things don’t apply to you, focus on doing really well at your job.
So much for “Harvard” guys
What a shame. My best friend works at EY
I think you shouldn’t look for a job for the sake of job security - what’s to say whatever you’re exiting to won’t do the same? Also making a rash decision into some random exit isn’t a recipe for contentment and sustained tenure. But if you already an exit ambition in mind and are thinking of this as a timing opportunity, sure why not...
Why would you quit a job if you like it? That makes no sense. Just throw in the towel I guess. Personally, I’m afraid of heights so I’m just going to go jump out a window. Good luck with your decision!!
P.S. Grow some balls. Don’t roll over at the first sign of adversity and you can break you streak of a new job every year.
Which area they are doing Lay-off ?
Are you sure SCNO in EP is suffering lay offs? EP doesn’t seem to be effected at all
If you like it, why would you jump ship?
The best time to look for a job is when you have a job! Hang in there get paid, take a vacation, start looking and if you find something with out having to take anything then you are in a better position. Who knows while your looking and seeing how marketable you are things may get better where your at.
