Guys there’s this boot camp that I came across that trains people to get jobs in Top consulting firms and has a fee plan wherein you pay once you get placed. I just wanted to know if someone here has any experience with this ?

I introduce them to my Lord and Savior, PowerPoint. Then I take their money.
To my original point, there’s still a lot of problems with the dude himself rather than his supporters. I’m just saying that you can’t ignore that. When you know your candidate does these things and you vote for him, you have to own that. You can use “the other choices sucked” option but you have to square how his history of racist and misogynist behavior is worse than whatever you believe about the other candidate. Sometimes it’s not easy as no candidate is perfect but in this case I thought there was an obvious answer.
I had trump supporters, does that count?
EY1, maybe they aren’t but they’re not only accepting but actively selecting someone who has a well documented history of rather appalling behavior. What does that say about them, that they want a tax cut so bad they’ll drop their moral standards?
EY1 - being indifferent or saying that the president's actions are so off your radar is privilege in action. Your privilege allows you to live a non-political existence. Some of us, even if we don't want to care, HAVE to care because we are subject to bigotry, racism, etc. on a regular basis and/or safety of our families is threatened. Not all Trump supporters are racist, homophobic, xenophobic etc - any person with critical thinking skills should recognize that. But some of us have had very painful experiences as a result of some of Trump's actions as well as the actions of others he has empowered.
EY1 - arson on a house of worship I have attended; colleague stuck in Iran during Trump's immigration ban last winter; increase in comments of "going back to your country" and "don't wear that here" for wearing hijab (I was born and raised in the US 🙄, not that it should matter).
C1, not worth engaging with these folks who haven’t had to experience what millions go through every day. I could say so much but this isn’t the right place or time. Hang in there C1, we got this!
To weigh in here, I agree with C1. Many people who disagree with trump are ones who face problems because of his actions/views. I will give him credit for boosting the economy by way of a higher stock market and lowering of corporate taxes. But then one can’t worry about things like the economy when you are treated as a second class citizen because of your race or sex or religion. Or being told that you need to go back to your home country because you don’t do enough for the economy (unless you’re from Norway) when you’re in these situations you start to just fight for your own survival and worry about economies later.
It’s a sad fact that most white people will never face that kind of discrimination and so will never really be able to understand.
Try to get them to say something absolutely ridiculous in front of their higher up
EY1. You should be proud
Just left a client who key contact was a Trumpette ... female Trumpster
Yeah super challenging but you have to do a great job like any other client. Avoid nonwork related discussions. If you hear something completely out of line, I’d report it to your manager to see how it can be handled. By out of line meaning, something like: this damn person is so X because he’s a Y. But if it’s just stuff like: “ugh of course there are so many people on welfare and we keep adding people on this country” then just ignore and move on. It sucks but it will pass.
Pretty sad that if someone voted for Trump, you lump them into being a racist sexist xenophobe.
These words are thrown around so much and are so loose these days, you all should be ashamed.
If anyone else would’ve won the election, my life would’ve gone on, yours should too
Err... listen to his previous interviews on Howard Stern, the Access Hollywood bus, response to what happened in Charlottesville, the federal governments claims that he discriminated who he would rent to in the 70s, comments about a judge covering a trial against him... I could go on.
EY1 - it's obviously not productive to engage with you, and also demonstrates why it's not productive to engage with clients on this matter too. The man convicted was charged with a federal hate crime and also admitted to being motivated by Trump's comments. If you're truly curious, probably better to start reading and informing yourself on the experiences of people outside your direct circles, rather than using Fishbowl as a channel to do so ☺️
I'm with EY1. C1 you don't get to just blame a political affiliation for bad things. We could go back the other way on a bunch of liberal policies that enabled the housing bubble which causes the crisis. Those are the actions of others not Trump. And those people are the racists. You realize that nearly half of our country voted for him so it's a huge group. That's also being discriminatory. Just so everyone knows C1 discriminates based on ideology. Though he hides in the liberal crowd he is a bigot of ideologies.
D5 - if you actually read my comments you'd see that I never made any blanket statement about all Trump supporters, and actually said that we all know they're not racist, xenophobic, etc. What I said was *I* was personally affected by Trump's direct action (immigration ban) and by someone he empowered (arsonist who said Trump's rhetoric inspired him). Also I'm not a he 💁🏻♀️
Never said I despise Trump supporters, but thanks for putting words in my mouth. Love you all, fellow consultants. All I was trying to articulate was that staying out of politics is not an option for me because I feel it affects me daily.
I just punch them straight in the mouth.
@D6 yeah, but empathy is a choice. Empathy is actually critical to humanity.
