Is work life balance better in IB working overseas? Anyone here in Europe or Asia? Please tell me. Thanks.

Europe works 60 hours a week max, Asia is just as bad as nyc but less growth

London works 80-100h weeks at a fraction of the NYC pay

We do 50-60 hours normally, but could get up to 80 hours if busy. The hours can be random, where it's a slow day at work, you get home, then boom, you’re in for a late night.

Him: *searches the keyboard for a solid 45 seconds, hits buttons* WOW...that fixed it!!!!

Hey friends. My wife and I are looking to start investing in the market outside of our 401ks, hsa etc. We opened a Charles Schwab brokerage account and planning to transfer 2-3k/mo. We’re in our late 20s/early 30 and likely won’t need to touch the money for 10+ years. What should be our investment strategy? How should we allocate to what funds? Thinking of splitting evenly across large, mid, small caps, and growth, value funds using DCA.

Left IBD to quickly - VP1 opps?

Long story short - was lured into an opportunity to do BD for a large PE PortCo… better work/life balance, but honestly miss the deal cycle.

Anyone know of open VP1 opps right now?

Quick background - former MM banker (think Raymond James, Piper Sandler size) doing FinTech and Asset Management within FIG, but also open to other sectors.

Thanks!

Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.
