Think it’s a bit of churn and a bit of offshoring/gen AI hype. I know at least in IBM Consulting there’s a strong push to staff more offshore folks to increase profit margins on sold work.
This hasn’t impacted design too significantly yet because the set of skills and processes we bring to our engagements can’t be directly substituted by button pushing, but as we start augmenting some of those skills with AI, it’s becoming a more difficult fight for the IC designer to show to leadership why they’re worth what they get paid
I’m in-house and they give retention bonuses. I get a 5k lump sum every three years.
Because I also get an annual bonus of 25k and am basically guaranteed a promotion every 2-3 years based on the corporate annual review process (assuming I’m hitting all my targets).
Nothing and they have fully admitted it. I work for one of the large holding co’s.
Like we had a townhall with one of the CEOs and when that question was asked the answer was that at this time their hands are tied and they “understand” if talent leaves because they cant afford to stay.
