It is often that I hear teachers at my school and at other schools complain about a lack of communication . Our principle does a great job of sending out a weekly newsletter that has dates, events, and information. What are the types of communication you receive from your admin, and do you feel that it is effective?

We have a monthly newsletter, which does a good job about spreading notices and information. It is more so the lack of ability to communicate back that I have an issue with. Seems to be a disconnect somewhere and we don’t have a way of communication that is helping it right now.

Do you find that when you ask a question about something that you get a sparky reply of "It's in the Newsletter!"? Happened to me twice now. I asked another question trying to clarify, and just got the same response with a bit more snarkiness added.

Our principal sends out a weekly staff email with information, events, and information from our school nurse. She also sends out alerts throughout the week too.

We get an email newsletter from the principal's administrative assistant that goes out about every other week, or if something is timely. It's just standard announcements about schedule changes, maintenance issues, and that sort of thing. It's effective so far as it goes.

That's good. I do look forward to the newsletters, because at least they provide some information. Sad thing is that a lot of people don't even read them.

My company’s SOP template has a table of contents and a section at the top where the SOP owner is supposed to add a short statement containing the “Why” of the SOP, meaning a statement about what the SOP is supposed to solve for/ accomplish. A co-worker recently told me that it should also contain a checklist of the 4-5 main points of what the team member should know how to do after reading the SOP…. This seems really redundant to me. Thoughts?
