It's funny how my views have changed slightly in this modern world. Awhile back I would kind of roll my eyes internally when a student said they just watched sports with their family over the weekend, or if they physically went to a big football game or whatever (I know... I was slightly judgmental). Now when students come back from the weekend and say they did nothing but play video games it makes me long for the days when kids would report other activities! I feel like I'm at my wits end. I teach self-contained classes and according to the ISBE website my classes shouldn't be more than 8 students unless I have an aide - then it can be 10. I have no aide and most of my classes are around 14 kids. Some with behavior plans that are only out of our behavior room setting for my class... Is anybody else out there going through illegal class sizes for self-contained? How are you dealing? Maybe a vent session is in order.

I love my job in special education, the job may bring quite a bit of stress and exhaustion but nothing compares to the stress of the related service team. OT, PT, speech, BCBA, social worker, etc etc is really what’s killing me this year. It is 23 days into the school year and the team members all make different plans and as a result, nothing is being accomplished. And if paraprofessionals follow ie what OT says but not PT, it cause so much unnecessary conflict!
