It’s like once you have a gap on your resume your career is over, nobody wants to take a risk on someone others let go and other passed on. I have been passed over by in house and mid law even with good credentials and experience after being pushed out.

Let’s talk speed reading. I’m a slow reader and listened to a podcast recently on speed reading. I’m intrigued. Who here speed reads? How did you learn those skills, and what types of documents do you speed read in practice? I do mostly litigation and am thinking that speed reading would help with research but maybe not things like doc review where you need to review for both responsiveness and privilege.

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. Am I the only one whose time entries get worse the busier and more chaotic a specific case is? Like for example preparation for a dispositive hearing with a lot of factual and legal issues that’s treated like a fire drill. My time entries are chaotic and rereading at the end of the month I feel like the time was totally justified but also like wow it sounds like we were jumping all over the place and we were, lol time entries were not your typical sequential one step at a time thing.
