My firm celebrates Hanukkah instead of Christmas every year. I’m a Christian, but instead of getting upset about it I let it go. I suggest you grow some thick skin and do the same.
@LawClerk1 your antisemitism is showing.
On the one hand, I understand where you’re coming from. However …. It’s a business not a funhouse. Frankly there is no requirement for a business to commemorate symbolic ethnic/social/religious calendar platitudes. We collectively used to understand this basic concept before.
That’s a good way to put it. Business is just that, doesn’t need to celebrate everyone’s everything.
Why do you need your job to publicly support your sexual preferences (or the sexual preferences of anyone)? Our society is so bonkers we think it’s normally to celebrate people for having pride on who they have sex with. This isn’t normal.
It’s so bizarre.

Before I became a lawyer, I worked with a passionate trans woman who advocated tirelessly for her community at work. She was able to ensure there was change. For example, when we were building a new office she was able to ensure there were gender-neutral bathrooms. She also helped to found an LGBTQ+ ERG and we had a float in the pride parade every year. But it came at a great professional cost. She was denied promotions or the opportunity to interview for new roles. Eventually, she quit her job and came back as a contractor.
The office was a better place when she was there. I was sad to see her go.
If they can slap a rainbow on LinkedIn when it’s convenient, they can acknowledge Pride internally. Silence is a choice—and a message. Call it out.
It takes fortitude and integrity to call it out, and a risk to the person doing it. Implying its immaturity to not simply roll over is what’s actually childish.
You’re there to work, not celebrate sin.
Praying for me?
Believe people when they tell you who they are.
Hello everyone, I'm a Commando-8 Air conditioning unit equipped with 12,000 BTUs.
Assuming you’re hetero, I would protest by engaging in as much rainbow behavior as my body could tolerate, and send vids to the relevant decisionmakers at your firm.
Who cares
I know right!?!
This makes like the 30th year in a row that my employer hasn't set aside a month to honor or celebrated my sexuality.
good!, this is the firm I want to work in!
no victim playing lazy parasites, only professionals who focus on what they are supposed to do!
Again with dumb word games. No. That’s not what LC is saying and you know that. LC is clearly referring to the insufferable ideologue activists who perpetuate this. You know… the people who play word games and try to gaslight…
The majority of these comments are heinous. It’s disheartening to see so many people go out of their way to be homophobic/rude/to make a joke at the expense of someone asking for help. Making the choice to post rude comments under the guise of anonymity to someone asking a genuine question instead of continuing to scroll is extremely telling of your characters. Y’all should take a look in the mirror and figure out why you’re so triggered by this post. These comments also prove why it’s vital to acknowledge pride & support lgbtq folks. I’d suggest trying to talk to queer partner or associate more senior than you first to get a gauge of whether they think the firm would be amenable or if it would make you a target.

Seek out allies and lift each other up in every way you can think of.
They had an old boys club, we need to strengthen our not-hateful-jerks club.
Is anyone following the whole Imane Khelif saga? Like the whole answer is in the name! Not hard to figure it out!!! Dude’s name is literally I MAN.
Shut up and [bill].
My firm chair always sends the same email hailing Stonewall, which I find to be hilarious. Like, I do not actual think you support people throwing bottles at cops in the present day, Mr. Chairman.
I agree with the comments, this is a place of business, who people decide to sleep with is not to celebrate that is a private matter.
I'm still waiting for Albino Pride Month, bigots. I've got the t-shirts sitting right here, ready to sell.
Thank you A10.
I’m going to ignore all the homophobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism (yes it’s anti-Semitic to imply that Jews are “the ultra-wealthy” class - Jews are not a monolith and we are represented at different socioeconomic group levels just like any other minority) and misogyny in the comments so far and treat the question with the respect that it deserves.
I would suggest maybe joining one of the pre-existing DEI groups, raising a point about intersectionality and taking it from there? Your firm does not have to make a great big song and dance about it on its website (it might not be sensible for it to do so in the current climate) but internally there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be able to create a safe space for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+ or an ally.
Such cringe post lol
Speak up. Ask if you can help with it. Offer your suggestions on what they could do and what to include in the messaging.
