The most common litigators that get hired in-house are L&E (who will manage outside counsel and help with internal investigations) and IP (assuming tech company with frequent litigation matters, and you’re still overseeing outside counsel).

IHC almost never does litigation themselves, it’s just babysitting.
So you don’t need litigation experience per se, but I you need to be familiar with how disputes typically play out, what are those key warning signs, a sanity check on outside counsel’s suggestions, etc.
