I think you definitely see this at the younger levels, and certainly through middle school. My theory is that by high school you have a pretty good idea of which male and female students are going to be in AP track and really thrive, and at that point there's not a speed thing. But then there's the effect of sports and other distractions on concentration. Really interesting find.

That's a good point about sports and distractions. There are different things at work the older they get.

Thought: 💭 I wonder:
Are girls faster learners at “everything”, or specific things?

How does setting and structure impact all?

(Math difference noted herein).

I was wondering that, too. I would be interested in following students over a longer period of time to see if they stayed consistent.

This is something that I have always known as well. In all the classes that I've taught my top students were always girls. That's why I feel like it's sad that society has convinced little girls that they are not good at science and math..

I have seen this, too. I wonder how much multi-tasking plays into their success?

That's interesting. I think social dynamics can play a part, too.

Is this a unique American measurement? Or are findings the same across nations . How much is culturally based.

There is gender disparity ? Where are the calls for elevating the forgotten male ? We can’t have disparities - that means one thing and one thing only. Discrimination, prejudice, and MISANDRY!!! Where are the calls for equity now?

Bonita- can you try again? I’m not clear on what you are trying to say.
