I completely understand where you're coming from. It feels like every year, the workload just increases without any real additional support. As a SPED teacher, I want to give my students the attention they deserve, but the paperwork often takes up so much of my time that it’s hard to focus on them 100%. If the DOE changes the IEP process without increasing administrative support, I worry that we'll just get more bogged down, and our students will suffer as a result.

I am most concerned about all the hoops teachers already have to leap through. The joy of teaching is diminished!
We just changed our IEP’s in MA. It is a LOT of work for idealistic things on paper that do not change support, services, or outcomes for students.. The whole thing is stupid in my opinion and a big waste of time, reaources, and energy that should be spent on the students not paperwork. Good
Luck! It is a lot!
Yes. The whole thing is about using idealistic language for the same stuff. Kids need what they need to be successful. Playing games with the language and turning an already long document into something that is twice as long does not change the accommodations, modifications, or service delivery. We should be spending money on more speech therapists, occupational therapists, and better training for special ed teachers, not on changing IEP’s in meaningless ways.

I have a friend who is a SPED team leader. Oh my, the amount of work she has to do is atrocious. I cannot imagine how he would cope if the work load increases.
