Here is hoping that the new person is great. If that isn’t the case, I just try to focus on the things I have control over. I can keep my standards and just tackle whatever problems they make one by one.
Yes that’s true, I can’t control what happens!
I would not be worried as the new person could be the best manager ever! Go in with that attitude
Yes that’s true- I should keep an open mind!
First of all, have an open mind, it's possible the new manager will be good. If that's not the case, dealing with a bad manager is just a matter of navigating the situation as best you can. Sometimes new managers start off shaky and once they get confident things move along okay. If they have persistent problems just do the best job you can and try not to let their shortcomings interfere with or undermine your work.
Yes that’s true, I should give it time!
Don't put the cart before the horse. Who's to say the new manager won't be an improvement on the old one? If they do end up being a nightmare, you just have to do your best to keep your head down and stay on their good side. Learn how they operate and what makes them tick, and tailor the way you work accordingly. But fingers crossed they'll be great and you won't have to worry about any of this.
Yes hopefully they will be great!
Unless you know for sure that this person has poor management skills (specifics always help), don‘t jump to conclusions. One sign of a good manager is meeting with their team 1 on 1 to talk about what they do, their pain points and how they might help. This is your shot to find out more about their management style and how they function most effectively, and either find out how you can help realize the vision for your team, or explore options within, or outside the company.
That’s a good point!
