I’ve noticed when people resign, they often share details of the company they’re joining during partner discussions. How important is it to disclose your new employer? I’m in discussions for a new role, but a leader at my current firm knows a senior person at the prospective employer. I’m not comfortable sharing details before everything is finalised. Is it generally expected to disclose where you’re going, or is it acceptable to keep it confidential until after you’ve joined?

Our company is shopping around for anti-virus and anti-malware solutions, and encountering companies who “will not redline.” We’ve tried 3 vendors, and the only one who redlined quoted 5x what others have quoted. Some of it has to do with how the biz team is presenting, but has anyone else run into this? I’ve not seen another industry where an outright refusal to redline exists, let alone one where negotiating legal terms costs 5x!

Within my first year of Consulting, really struggling with the hours amongst other things. Spoken to a couple of people internally and the advice is to get on to projects with bigger budgets and therefore bigger teams/more support. I want to wait until I hit the one year mark before making a decision on whether Consulting is for me or not. Curious to hear from other experienced hires..how is/was your first year?
