We made it part of our managers' evaluations for them to self-reflect on ways they noticed and communicated when their employees were doing well. Prior to doing this, we felt like it was an incredibly difficult task to get managers to show their staff appreciation and recognition. But once we started making it an expectation of our managers and part of their yearly evaluation, they started making more concerted efforts.

You are so right about this. I was just talking to leadership at my company about the importance of managers recognizing their employees, even for little things. We do this thing called a "fish" and it is a small way to recognize employees. They get a jean day when they get one and it has made a big impact.

My contract is ending 12/31/22 and can’t be extended legally according to our CFO. Worked in various increasingly responsible roles at the same organization as a FT employee in IT for 17 years and then took a buyout and chilled doing side gigs for 18 months then came back as temporary contract staff for the last 3.8 years as Business Analyst and Technical Writer. Curious to know if I’m being unreasonable in expecting my next Senior BA role to pay in the $110-130k range in the DC Metro Area.
