I’ve worked front desk, night shifts, even covered housekeeping when we were short at a downtown hotel. I thought grinding in every department would fast-track me to supervisor. Instead, I’m still “reliable staff.” Meanwhile, a 17-year-old I trained can’t get hired elsewhere because of age rules.

Yes, I have. I tend to go above and beyond what’s asked of me because I am passionate about what I do. However, I have come to realize that they’d rather take advantage of me than to recognize me for my work because that would mean they would have to pay me more. I’m sorry they haven’t recognize your contributions, I know that someone else will.

I went through exactly the same thing for a hotel chain I worked for two years eventually I quit in October last year . Been trying to find a new job ever since . I will never understand how companies can just ignores those who actually to do their job and promote the lazy and the ones who try to be friends with every manager by doing small favours just to get up the ladder faster .

Definitely. I was having a hell of a time trying to find a better, advanced role because I'm from a small town and there just aren't a lot of opportunities here. I finally gave up on staying home and expanded my search radius nationwide. Ended up taking a job in Cincinnati (I'm from Indiana) that paid way better and gave me more upward mobility. Wasn't thrilled about having to move, but two years on and I can say it was definitely the right call for my career.
