Job applications require candidates to invest time, energy, and patience into every stage of the process. I recently received a response explaining that while my effort was appreciated, some required skills were not fully demonstrated in my application. It reminded me how competitive hiring has become and how difficult it can be to communicate your full value through one application alone. How do candidates truly stand out when so much depends on what can be demonstrated in a limited process?

If you got actual response from a human that articulated this, I'd consider that a win in itself in terms of your resume writing.

Job queues are so full these days it seems its rare to even get an email back, and if it is, it's the automated one from the recruiter clicking "reject" after spending 15seconds looking at your resume.

I still believe many recruiters don't even look at the job experience.

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

Hey 🐠,

I am approaching the Roth IRA income limit, and have a pre-existing Roth IRA that was not converted from a traditional account. Is there a way for me to take advantage of the backdoor Roth loophole while funneling the money into my current Roth? Or, do I have to set up a new account, convert it to Roth, and make all future contributions into that account? I’ve already asked my broker, and they have not been the least bit helpful. Thanks!

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.

Quick question.
I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?
