Deloitte is the bigger name and pays a bit better but Grant Thronton has way nicer people and known to have a way better cultre and work environment. What should I do? Where should I go?Deloitte Grant Thornton

I wouldn't be worried. I would generally only ask for references if I had reservations that I wanted to clear up. Many times, they can tell if you're going to be a good fit, and they may just have felt it wasn't necessary. Good candidates are very hard to come by, so when you find one, you don't want to lose them! Congrats on the offer. Hope it's what you were hoping for!
I have never once been asked for references...ever. Is this common? At my second IHC role now. Was at two firms before and also had a short non-legal career in finance pre law school.

Some companies just don’t. Amazon does not for example.
It happens. Are you worried it’s a scam or something?
They checked my references after I got hired lol
I’m not in house, but at all of my law firms they asked for them after I accepted the offer, as part of the background check.
Most places do it as part of your background check post-offer acceptance
We never ask for references
