SAP America routinely lays off with variances in demand, particularly being publicly traded and the quarterly earnings pressures that come with that. My wife took a voluntary layoff with them some years ago and got pay and benefits for 9 months. She had a new job in 6 weeks and basically had two salaries for 7.5 months.

I was laid off december right after mid year CRT and reason given was as a SA i am not creating impact in bringing work to the practice. Couple of other folks were laid off too sing with me and we were part of tier 2 ratings with great connections and network and feedback. So, I would not be surprised if this is case just before year end. While I feel for folks and wish them luck but I do want to see if this kicks away the bad leadership specially some incompetent managers that are in that practice

P2: ok HR. you don’t have to read too deep in my reply. FYI. my metrics were not weak if that is what you were implying. I was up for promotion this year and if my metrics were weak till december then why was I not let go right after CRT in June? It was a 2 in year end and also at next level for other metrics past CRT. There can be crappy reasons but it might be helpful if instead of pointing us out see how incompetent managers perform and impact the metrics in practice. Many Managers in the practice are not even capable of being a manager - one as they don’t maintain the team dynamics and two is that they always push down blame instead of owning stuff. I can go on and on but it might be better if you look into those above level and see what needs fix. 🙏🤷‍♀️

Also...it’s important to note that SAP does this regularly. It may not be anything worth noting. (I honestly don’t know either way...just saying it happens there)

How do you deal with people you don’t like or trust at work? I find it extremely difficult to work around someone (especially if they are more senior) that I don’t like or trust. I feel like I can’t be myself of share my thoughts due to fears of getting in an argument with them, and am constantly concerned they are looking at my mistakes and reporting them to my boss or trying to get my fired. It paralyzes me and even affects how I communicate with others, as I become hyper aware of who is and isn’t allies with the person I don’t like or feel is after me. Anyone can relate?

I was fired after I reported a partner for a serious (criminal) ethics violation. The firm covered it up. Are all companies like this in the end? I’ve lost my trust and don’t know how to start over.

Any insight from Deloitte folks on the announced layoffs? Has anyone from PwC or KPMG heard anything similar? EY has left the door open for layoffs, but hasn’t laid out specific plans yet. It feels inevitable though. While I don’t think I’m on the chopping block (famous last words), I do worry about the morale impact on my teams and the office in general. Curious to hear other perspectives.

I have chronic health issues and I’m severely depressed. I can’t even get myself to work anymore. If I don’t quit, I’m in serious danger of being fired. I feel that I need to just quit and take time off to get better but feel that it will be a stain on my career. I’m a pretty junior lawyer. Any advice. I just can’t do any work at all and I’m my anxiety and depression is spiraling out of control. I see a therapist I try to cope and it’s not working.

I’ve been submitting applications because my company has been doing layoffs and pay cuts. I was informed yesterday that they will be doing additional pay cuts starting next week. First my bonus was cut by 60% and now they have mentioned they are going to cancel it altogether. When interviewing for new positions how should I explain why I’m looking for a new job even though I still (at least currently) have a job, just major pay cuts?

Hey friends, I was laid off (due to COVID) from Accenture a month ago as an analyst. I had a pretty good network of SM, MD and managers that I talked to frequently before. However once I was laid off, I got depressed and haven’t reached out to any of them. I feel horrible but I’m trying to push myself out of my depression and make some positive changes. My fear is that at this point, I’m just a number and that they don’t care. It’s causing me anxiety and I’m telling myself it’s too late now.
