If you know what you like, auction. Winebid and K&L both offer good selections
Thanks. Exactly what I was looking for
Go visit wineries and join the clubs for the places you love. We keep our clubs tiered so we always have something ready: 3 clubs where average bottle price is $30-$50 and wines are ready after bottle shock and 2 clubs at $60-$100 but wines can/need laid down for 5+ years. Been doing this for 10 years and now we have a wine for every occasion ready to go!! Barely ever buy wine from retail but are members of an affordable 2 bottle/month club from a local wine bar (that wine almost exclusively gets brought to parties).

- Las Jaras
- Herman Story
- Tablas Creek
- Ridge

“A few clubs” could fill you to max capacity within 2 years. I don’t think you need to worry about filling the empty space. Sounds like at your level of enjoyment it will happen pretty quickly organically. 🍷

Unless you like throwing lots of lavish parties or you have a handful of producers you love to drink all the time I would buy singles and variety
I wouldn’t buy in bulk unless you are certain about your taste. I’d be picking up sets of 6 to 12 bottles (I.e. standard case sizes) and the fridge will fill up fast
Get in with the buyers for sourcing programs like Wine Express. Getting closer to the importer is key to getting better pricing
ITB & a collector…don’t go hard on all the “wine clubs” unless you’re just buying to drink near term. A better approach is to seek out a reputable merchant and auction houses, and educate yourself - use Decanter, Wine Advocate, Cellartracker etc to learn about regions and classifications and don’t pass up any opportunities to taste wine- sure free tastings are great but if you can pay $50 or $100 + for some good ones that’s where you’ll reply learn. Good luck!
Try to find a local small wine shop and talk to the owner. Supporting local businesses is a W and you get more personalized service.

Let’s see this bad boy. Need more pics on this bowl
Do a multi-day trip to Napa or another region you like. At a case per wine you enjoy or a case per winery, you’ll fill it much faster than you expect.
Also, I would leave yourself lots of room -40-50% at the very least. Don’t rush to fill it. I have about 1/2 that capacity, and I am constantly not buying even single bottles I enjoy because I don’t have space to store.
