What are your go to wines for sub $15? Looking for something new to drink this weekend!

I focus on region when just looking for something at a lower price point. Lots of great wines for under $15. I’m a big fan of wines from Willamette, Rutherford, or Russian River - especially Pinot noirs from those areas. If you can find any from those areas under $15 then it’ll prob be decent. White wines - I really like New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Most are outstanding in the $15 range. There’s tons of great rose under $15. I don’t drink too many other kinds of white, so can’t offer much assistance there. I tend to stay away from all cheaper Cabs. I find you usually need to spend $45+ for a solid cab, however, that doesn’t mean I’ve had really great affordable cabs. I just find that they’re harder to come by.

Maison Brotte Charles Brotte Grand Vallon Syrah
Los Ailos Syrah-Malbec
Hangtime Pinot Noir
La Pena de Espana Tinto

All are under $15

You can normally find good riesling under 15

FACT. And since I'm absolutely 💯 NOT a fan of Pinot (anything), I love finding a good Riesling

Yes!! My mother in law turned me onto them!! They have a burbon barrel red that is delicious and so affordable. I’m a huge fan.

If you want a rosé, the palm by whispering angel

Yes!

Bogle Old Vine Zin
Anything Hitching Post has in that price

Sadly I think the $15 point is going to disappear very soon because of inflation

like

Or to follow up - Argentine wines are all very 'underpriced' due to years of inflation in Argentina. Malbec generally is a bit hit and miss for me (some great, some not so great), but some of their can sav/merlot/malbec/syrah (not all in one!) blends are excellent.

Argentine Torrontes is your best bet for while - good semillon too, and then a bit of a mixed bag with the international whites (chardonnay/sauvignon blanc etc.) - worth experimenting and seeing what you like or don't.

like

The El Terrano Spanish wines at Whole Paycheck! The garnacha and monastrell.

like

Parducci Pinot noir, $9
Montesa Grenache, $17
Anything Spanish under $30
Chilean Carmenere (hard to find above $30)

Laughs in European...

But seriously, I'd recommend anything red from Northern Italy or Rioja that you can find at that price point. I find the wines are very consistent quality and (in Northern Italy anyway) are still grown on a scale that keeps quality high.

I'm afraid I'd be less help for white - the market will be completely different in the US

like

AAAAND this. Same price point ~$10. I was talking about this 🐟bowl, and all of a sudden *this* was plucked from the wine cooler and onto my placemat.

Seghesio zin. Always good.

like

Decoy - usually can find for low $20s though but sometimes cheaper.

like

White- vinho verde. I had this everyday when in Portugal!

like

Anything cotes du Rhône is generally great value; famille perrin, Kermit lynch, even Kirkland brand when it’s available

likehelpful

Sterling Chardonnay

like

Guigal Cotes Du Rhône, LaCrema Chardonnay, Domaine Pegionne Ventoux Rose. True bargain J Roget Sparkling.

like

Decoy for red and oyster bay or Kim crawford for white are my go to inexpensive table wines

like

Go for Portugal! Mega value with that country. Or a Beaujolais if you want something a bit more well known

smart

Very cool! Will have to look into this more

like

Red or white?!

I love HobNob pinot

I have a third round interview this Thursday, but after I sent my availability, I booked a flight for work that is causing a problem. The interview ended up scheduled for 3:30-4:15, and I'm supposed to be on a 5pm flight out of LGA. Is there a reliably quiet place at LGA to do the interview (I don't have lounge access)? Would it be a bad idea to say my availability changed and I can't do that time slot anymore? Or should I cancel / rebook my flight to later at night?

Let’s talk decanters. Does anyone have a specific shape they recommend over others?

I am looking for wine decanter tags that are writable. I’d like to find a vintage looking silver option, but they all require engraving. Big fan of this one. Not super bold. More velvety. Subtle leathery taste, hints of vanilla! I picked up a half case for 120, or $20 a bottle! I may actually buy more. 8/10 for price and taste. Very elegant.

Dry. Acidic nose. But for $10 this wine is amazing. Where else can you find a ‘14 vintage for that cost. I Get nectarine hints maybe plum. Very little body. Mild tannin; I wouldn’t mind putting out for guests. If you’re going for something dry, acidic, in the red department, can’t complain. I picked this one up from Trader Joe’s. Hope you find this helpful!

Need some recommendations on Red Wines from Wine & Spirits under $30. I tend to favor bitter over sweet flavors more. Please give me some to try these next few weekends!

I'm looking for wine recommendations as a bourbon drinker. I'm a regular to barrel proof bourbons (120+ proof) and did a few red wines tonight but was expecting more. I'm hoping to find a red that is more full tasting or has a more pronounced finish.
