Any recommendations on getting into wine? I love other specialty beverages (3rd wave coffee, craft beer), but struggle to “figure out” wine.

The ability to get involved with local beer and coffee producers has been a huge factor for me, so I’m guessing the comparative lack of local wine producers has contributed to me struggling to understand more of the process, culture, tasting notes, etc.

Where are you located

I’ve done wine tastings with friends&family where we pick a specific grape/wine and either tried a bunch from the same region or one from all different regions. We did one on just Sauvignon Blancs from Marlborough and another on cabs from Napa, Italy, France, and Australia. I love it because we get to dive deep into the history of that grape and taste the differences (some subtle others not so much) between geography and vineyard. Makes for a really fun night full of discussion ☺️

Join a wine club :) some can be as low as $20 / month and you get to try a great variety.

I made a salad with cucumber and sprouts because that was what I had in my fridge.

And a slice of baguette with some exorbitantly priced French butter.

Dry. Acidic nose. But for $10 this wine is amazing. Where else can you find a ‘14 vintage for that cost. I Get nectarine hints maybe plum. Very little body. Mild tannin; I wouldn’t mind putting out for guests. If you’re going for something dry, acidic, in the red department, can’t complain. I picked this one up from Trader Joe’s. Hope you find this helpful!

Big fan of this one. Not super bold. More velvety. Subtle leathery taste, hints of vanilla! I picked up a half case for 120, or $20 a bottle! I may actually buy more. 8/10 for price and taste. Very elegant.
