Kind of starting to freak out about the state of our industry & finding freelance. I’ve only had 2 days of work in 4 months when 3rd & 4th quarter are usually busy. Any words of encouragement or different strategies for freelance? Ideally branding vs advertising although I’ll take anything right now.

Anyone ever have experience negotiating a new offer to include unvested 401k match and stock grants from your current employer? I hate leaving money on the table but there are some good roles out there. I’m not fully vested in my current 401k yet and my stock grants haven’t matured yet either. This would be at a global director level.

I'm new to marketing and I am not formally educated in it. I have just been learning through experience with the business. I'm supposed to put together a Market report for our sales team to refer to but I have been stuck on what I even include. I have an expensive subscription to a reporting database and I am supposed to translate these technical reports into 20-30 slides. I can't figure out if I am overthinking something simple or lacking some knowledge that people formally learn in school.

I’m a senior planner leading one brand and there’s a new strategist on the team working on a sister brand. They’ve been asking for every strategy deck I’ve made on that brand as an example to go by to inform the thinking/flow on the sister brand. Also because I mentioned it went well with client when they ask. All for sharing thinking w/ the team & I know we feel imposter syndrome to varying degrees, but I also feel like it’s good for planners to find their own voice/style/flow. Thoughts?

Embarrassed. Sometimes I sit in media mtngs & don’t understand stuff I assume is basic. I work for an ATL ad agency as a senior strat. Is there somewhere I can do a crash course in media buying?

Strategy is so weird. If you do your job right, you simplify complex things to the point that anyone can feel like an expert.
That's when the danger begins...

What have you found most helpful in training up a very green junior brand planner or junior strategist? Any particular trainings or resources that are great at teaching foundational skills? I’ll be pulling them into projects and teaching through doing but I need some assistance in building up their core skills/training the strategy muscle.
