I’ve done it strategically. You have to protect your peace and your reputation, so deliver what’s expected, nothing less, nothing more. When I realized I wanted something better (and quit), I began to quietly apply to other places, which helped me get to know other people while maintaining contact with those I liked from my previous job. When people care about you, they support your decisions. So, you should be good to "quiet quit".

Yea that makes a lot of sense. Doing it strategically is the way to go and it helps you to work out the relationships work keeping throughout your career
Heck, I’m quite quitting right now. I used to work 50 to 60 hour weeks, but I wasn’t being compensated for the overtime and other people were taking credit for my work. Now I just do my job.

As you should!! Especially if you're not getting any credit for going above and beyond what you're expected. Just not worth it if no one sees you're doing all that extra work and it's not going to help you get paid more or move up
I definitely would say I have in the past, when I was looking for a new job. After leaving a toxic environment, I realized just how much I had stopped caring and trying, professionally and creatively.

Yea I can understand that especially when it's a toxic environment. Hoping you're in a better place now where you don't feel like you need to do that.
Yes. I did good work but I stopped going above and beyond. I turned down weekend work without caring about any repercussions. I stopped volunteering for jobs. I ended up getting laid off with a generous severance and got a new job that I’m 100x happier at.

How often were you doing weekend work before? I feel like even with my crazy work load, I would always try to keep my weekends free unless it was an absolute emergency. Glad that you were able to get that severance and new job though!!
