The most important is good healthcare. Working for a major healthcare organization really helps with that.
The best perk I uniquely received was being able to attend college full-time and work full-time (I know it's crazy to take on that much), and they paid for everything upfront at the beginning of each semester for tuition books, fees, etc. When I graduated they covered the cap and gown. I only purchased a class ring. This was a private university, so not that cheap.
A fun but not necessary perk was from the same company. We were a small company. An elaborate birthday party was held for each employee including champagne. They not only provided coffee, tea, and soft drinks, but after 4:30 anyone who desired could have a glass of wine or can of beer that was stocked in the fridge. People were respectful, and no one ever got drunk.

Now that is how a company does perks! Kudos to that company!
Maybe not the most unconventional thing ever, but easily flexible schedules have been my favorite thing at my company. I used to work at places where it would stress me out making a dentist appointment, but they really work with you here. Most unnecessary perk is probably the events they try to do, usually poorly thought out, but could definitely be better with some work!

The easily flexible schedules are easily one of the best perks any workplace can offer.
We get to have a paid day off on our birthday. Not the craziest perk, but I've never had that before, and it's definitely a very welcome, albeit small, perk of working at my current job.
I've been trying to get my company to do this!

The best I've ever had was fully paid Health insurance that allowed access to private hospitals.
Worst would be WFH equipment stipends that barely cover a mouse and keyboard.
Best: 100% work from home, age based contributions to 401k in addition to match
Worst: Gaming room in the offices (Foosball table, corn hole, putting green) so stupid and waste of money because no one ever had time to use it! Other would be the “wellness rooms”. Was supposed to be a place you could go and grab a quick nap during busy season, but in reality was where people who came to the office sick would crash. It was an office joke to call them the “germ factory room”.

Yes to the 100% remote, and age based contributions. THat germ factory thingy is just gross!😅
For me the best perk is flexibility in my schedule when needed. Worst for me is the game room and quiet space. Always too busy to use them. Where my husband works they do a day off for your birthday. It doesn't have to be taken on your exact birthday but can be used up to 30 days after your birthday and they pay his medical premiums for not bad insurance. But they get very little vacation time, only 10 days for the first 5 years.
Best: 100% paid widely accepted insurance coverage. Worst: Company "self insured" HDHP insurance, or as many have said.. the game room with a ping pong table no less.

Wish more companies knew that games rooms don't do anything for most employees
Perks? What's that??
I wish I could look for another job.... but have you seen all the posts...?? Tons of people looking.... with hardly any bites.... 🤷♀️ Even my own husband has been looking for over a year... and he has I.T. Infrastructure Management experience... numerous interviews ...No Job offer or ghosted.. I'm afraid to even try.

You just have to. The best time to look is when you're actively employed
