Unpopular opinion - Tag is a great first watch. Tag has some great designs, they have made a comeback in quality terms, and are globally popular and recognized.
Don’t buy used as it won’t ’feel yours’. Your first watch should be unused so you can add the first scratch yourself and make it yours.
2K isn’t a price point for the so called investment watches anyway, any watch you buy in this range will lose value so don’t buy from that perspective. Walk into a Tag boutique or an AD that has multiple brands, try a few pieces and choose the one that speaks to you.

Best advice is always buy what you like and will wear, but tags broadly don’t get a lot of love from people into watches and you’re going to take a big depreciation hit if you buy that retail.
If I was looking at divers in that price point I’d be looking second hand neo vintage omega - 2254.50 would be my call - can be had around that price point and personally think it’s a way better looking and wearing watch than a lot of the more modern seamasters. Could also look for a great white 2538.20 if you are focused on white dial.

2k is an interesting price point. There are a lot of great options around the 1k-1200 range, then a lot of nothing, then great watches 5k+.

Agree with EY1 to buy what you like, not what others like. That said, I'll echo the notion that Tag don't get much love from enthusiasts if that matters to you. For $2k I'd be looking at a used Omega anything or a Longines Hydroconquest. You can also throw Hamilton into the mix. Stretch to $3500 then Sinn has many options if you're into a hardcore tool watch vibe.
While I don’t disagree with what the others have said, I will remark that I picked up a Tag for -$2200 years ago as my first “nice” watch and ended up loving up so much that I still wear it regularly and never ended up getting anything “nicer.” So if you really love the look and could say yourself wearing it on a lot of occasions, I say go for it. If you’re buying it to only wear on special occasions, then maybe choose something more rare.
If it speaks to you go for it! But maybe save a chunk of change and go second hand.
What specifically about this caught your eye?
If there is something in tag's history that speaks to you that's still brand equity. Most people here tie it directly to how much you can resell it for which is not a reason to buy a watch imo. There are only a few brands/models that retain value second hand largely because of fake supply constrain by the brand. Having said all that, there are a ton of watches with white dials in this style.
Some options: Seiko SPB333; Oris Aquis; Tissot Seastar
Get an Oris Aquis or Divers 65
Aquaracer is a great choice. That said, that particular model is quartz i.e. battery powered, so I'd personally go with a different version
My first watch was a Tag 2000 series (the predecessor to the Aquaracer), which I still have and enjoy to wear on occasions. The model you have shared a picture of is a very attractive watch. If you like it, go for it.
