A rough sketch of my WFH spine
Moving to a smaller more outdoorsy centre due to work from home. I’m trying to decide between a two bedroom and a one bedroom, but feel a bit conflicted due to the price difference. For those of you who work in smaller apartments (550 square feet ish) how do you separate your work space from your living space and does the constraints impact your mental health? I’m currently in an 800 square foot one bed+den and am hesitant to lose space!
I had a thought today…do you think a lot of the turnover we’re seeing is due to us being WFH which is making it seem like we work from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed because we’re doing non-work stuff here and there during the day? Like I wake up 2 hours later than I did when I worked in the office, walk my dog during the day, cook lunch, etc. that all takes time.
How did your agency preserved its company culture (or improved it!) during this WFH Period?
Anyone at salesforce willing to give a reference ? I’m just amazingly good functionally on SFMC and looking for roles in DC or remote . 😎
Where do you live your healthiest lifestyle?
Remote - Close to your kitchen and favorite snacks, but also accessible to your home/building gym
Office - Close to office snacks that are nutritionally worse but less accessible, and maybe also accessible to the office building gym + walk to public transportation (if applicable)
Has anyone applied for, or accepted, a job recently in a different city than the one you currently live in and plan to work remote for the foreseen future from your current location? Currently live in OKC, but there’s an industry opportunity in Dallas I’m really interested in. If so, how’d you go about the discussion during your interview?
Can I take a second role as a short term consultant with e.g. the world bank or another smaller firm (fully remote) where my current firm is not competing? I’m a developer and would be able to juggle the two different responsibilities efficiently. I have a lot of downtime and getting many opportunities that seem attractive as a side hustle.
Help me spot my issues. I believe business will be forever changed and much more things will be virtual. I want to move my practice to as remote as possible and I want to move to a beach somewhere. I expect my savings will be 50-100k. I plan to meet with clients via zoom and travel when nesscary to events, and mandatory in person meetings etc. I'm mostly a transactional lawyer and don't have a ton of court appearances.
Bonuses aside, anyone feel like their Big Law firm hasn’t done anything to support them during 1.5 years of WFH?
Hi! I have a mom friend who is looking for a job. She has a business undergraduate degree but has not worked since graduating college since she had kids. It’s been awhile. She is looking to start work again. Could she apply for a job in consulting? If not, what are some good options for her? It needs to be remote during the pandemic. Thanks!
I recently took a remote job as I needed it for some stability. Normally, I much rather stay self employed but for now, I need the steady paycheck.
I was able to get a full time salaried job that was remote and exactly what I was looking for.
However, upon my first day (today) I found out I need to sign a non compete. It also mentions an invention disclosure if I ideate it
This has me a bit concerned as I have a startup (in hibernation for now) that I worry could be at risk if I signed it.
Is there always an expectation to work from home while sick? I just want to rest and recover.
How do you justify to yourselves staying in biglaw despite the personal cost? Is it just the money? Wondering because I feel completely burnt out but afraid to quit. Frankly, since the beginning of pandemic isolation and WFH along with an insane boom of my corporate practice, there is just nothing more to me than my work. How do you all still deal with it (or not).
Has anyone done a round 2 interview remote so far? Any tips or things to change vs in person?
Let's share a picture of our favorite WFH perks.
Is it impossible to work for agencies in overseas remotely? I’m currently out of the state and I’ve talked to some recruiters in the US and they all said to reach them out when I come back to the state. I have a duel-citizenship of the country where I’m staying at and the US. The roles were 100% remote jobs.
Need Referal for Gartner in Specialist, Market research role.
