Looking for a spot in the Philippines where I can spend 3-4 weeks in Feb to write/design in the mornings (wifi is key) and beachy exploration things in the afternoons. I don’t drink and I don’t party. I am solo, but a friend or family member may join for a piece. My budget for accommodations is in the $500-$600 range for the month (this is a multi month trip and the money‘s got to stretch). Less is better, obvs. Any recommendations on a place or town that isn’t crawling with 20 somethings?

For context, I’m in Japan now which has been more expensive. Average around $50 a day. Plus subway, trains, ramen and tonkatsu. ($150 a day when my wife was here for nine days.)

Update: now that the Patriots are going back to the big game, I’m looking for a place in the Philippines that will have the SuperBowl on at 8:00 AM.

Hi everyone! I am working with my HR to improve our maternity/paternity leave policy. Currently I only get 2 weeks fully paid and then an additional 8-12 weeks at 60% pay (short term disability). I need some examples of companies with less than 100 employees and what your maternity/paternity policy is. Please include company name! Thanks!!!

How did you give notice you were lateraling to people you like? Particularly if you haven't been there that long?

I'm lateraling to another firm because frankly I think the management of this one is terrible, but the people (and individual partners) I actually work with are awesome. I've only been here for about 18 months, so I imagine that short time frame will make it extra awkward 😬
