Looking for some genuine advice / perspective from those who’ve been through something similar. Early 30s, 9 years in a niche financial services role. Had a strong realization that I’ve been chasing promotions but don’t have any interest in the work itself. I’d like to move in a different direction & into ER, credit, corporate finance—but have been mentally struggling daily with feeling boxed in, pushing through day-to-day realizing I have 30+ yrs career left, but seemingly past the MBA window.

Hello,

Thank you for sharing this honestly, it’s a situation more people face than they admit. With 9 years in financial services, you already have strong analytical, industry, and stakeholder management skills that can transfer well into areas like equity research, credit, or corporate finance. You’re definitely not “too late”, many professionals pivot in their 30s by repositioning their experience, brushing up on technical skills (financial modeling, valuation), and networking strategically with people already in those fields. Small steps like certifications, side projects, or internal mobility can also help you transition without starting over.

When I was at a point where I felt stuck and unsure how to reposition my career, the career team at alfredpetersonhiringteam/gmail/com helped me clarify my direction and present my experience in a way that opened new paths. Their guidance played a key role in helping me secure my role as a Human Resources professional. It might be helpful to connect with them as you map out your next move.

You’re not behind, you’re just at a turning point. With the right steps, you can build a career that actually aligns with what you want moving forward.

Hi everyone. I'm pretty early in my career (just over 1 YOE) & not really enjoying my current role as a Consultant/Developer because of the type of projects I get combined with some mobility issues. However, I'm really interested in technical program management or project management and I'm looking for any advice on how to get there bc I've been applying, but can't even seem to get a call back.

I have over 12 years in B2B sales/sales management experience along with a graduate degree. I am wanting to shift gears and I am at a point where I can invest time in myself to learn through practical experience. The new industry I am wanting to pursue is real estate investment. I have read all the books but want some hands on experience on the property management side. How could I best leverage my skills for a role in this, and what should my expectations be for negotiation in compensation?

I have an offer for a company abroad.
