Nice. Congratulations. The food at trucks at the presidio is a great chill Sunday activity. Beautiful area too
St Regis or Ritz, depending on your/her style and preferences.
St Regis is contemporary (and recently renovated), near the SFMOMA and closer to Union Square (short walk). It’s my top pick and my wife’s favorite hotel in SF.
Ritz is old school, elegant, classic romantic hotel at the top of Nob Hill, so nice but far from the main museum and shopping district (long walk on a steep hill or a 10min Uber ride).
Can’t really go wrong with either. More of a style preference. Would definitely avoid the Palace.
Not the palace. Service sucks and rooms are small and dark (even the suites). St. Regis is lovely. Can’t speak to the Ritz (though it’s in a great location - less corporate of an area than St. Regis)
I was staffed in SF for over 3 months and split my time between those 3. St Regis is easily my favorite, then Palace, then the Ritz was easily my least favorite.
Regis: best service and best rooms by far. Feels like a super fancy hotel out of a James Bond movie. Consistently great regardless of what room you get
Palace: lobby has the most character and is quite unique. Rooms are inconsistent - sometimes quite nice (never as nice as the Regis) but sometimes also too small and dark. Feels more of an old timey, English Palace (hence the name)
Ritz - nice across the board but totally unmemorable. Definitely my least favorite Ritz I’ve stayed in (but it’s STILL a freaking Ritz so can’t complain)
Personally think the Palace has a lot more character and more beautiful public spaces (that atrium) than the St. Regis. Service is fantastic at the St. Regis but the hotel itself is not really memorable. Also the Palace has heated toilet seats...
Recently did the ritz and palace. Definitely ritz hands down. Much better room. Neither have comp lounge access. The palace to me just has the history and great lobby, everything else is wack. Also from location wise Ritz is better.
Ive only stayed at the Ritz - it was fine, but I hear St Regis is better
Disagree with SD1. I’ve had nothing but excellent service at the Palace and the rooms I’ve stayed in were quite large. Calling the rooms dark is fair though. The lobby area is amazing. Personally I’d go Palace.
You could not have gotten more divided responses OP lol
I have already searched the archives and found posts where those three hotels have surfaces multiple times, but now I’m looking to pick a winner from this narrowed down list. For context, I’m 28 male and taking my gf on this trip
Not to divide and confuse further, but did you look at Le Meridien as an option? I really loved that hotel and was meh on the others (tho I've never been to the Ritz there so not sure on that one). Congrats!
That's fair.... I've spent nights at the others and was underwhelmed. I liked the vibe and location.
St Regis. But I think it’ll cost more than the Ritz and def more than Palace
