Looking to reach out to retiring advisors to see if they have succession plans in place. Is there a list out there that has advisor contact info?

There’s a bunch of websites that do this like succession link. Also for a more hands on approach there are list brokers that sell just advisor contact info and you could could call ones in your area. Prices are high now though, and honestly best way is to network thru advisor and planner groups.

Couldn’t agree more with the above comment - networking is #1. It takes time, but when the average advisor is 55+ years old now, sellers are out there. Most that talk with us at Succession Resource Group think that “succession” means selling and retiring, and getting paid out of their cash flow. Not compelling. Today that couldn’t be further from reality, so your job as a buyer has to be enlightening them about the alternative - sell, get cash today for the value, and then let them work part time for a salary and % of new biz. MUCH more compelling.

You can also see practices that are for sale currently on our website, and there isn’t a membership fee to look at listings, FYI

Think about this for a minute... why would you sell a book? Because you didn't want it anymore or it was beyond its useful life, kinda like an old car... it's old, rusty and needs more maintainence than it provides useful transportation, it's in the repair shop more often... everytime it goes in you find something else wrong with it? Plus, the prices the buyers are willing to pay are outrageous, by the time you get it paid off it's in the junk yard. No easy solution to building a sustainable business except hard, persistent work.
