Need help thinking through this…Debating leaving to a tech startup. Very early stage ($3-7M ARR), would have a big role leading strategy and Ops. It’s a cash paycut, which is a bummer but the equity would be pretty good. Just nervous about leaving before hitting the full manager role and taking a paycut in this market to bank on equity. Need help on how I transition my career from Audit to Management Consultancy. I have only completed BCom and ACCA (UK Chartered Accountant) and have worked for over 2 years at EY.

I’m currently a Grade 11 at Cisco. With the recent pay structure changes my annual comp will be $150k + 12% bonus. I live in a large metro area in the middle of the US. I’m looking to move around the company so that I can make commission but I don’t want to be an account manager. Can anyone tell me if there are Customer Success Managers, etc positions that manage customers post sale and have a similar range base as me with commission plans? I’m just trying to understand income potential.

While giving the tech interview as well as while having the HR discussion, I mentioned my expected CTC as 9-10 LPA(CTC). I cleared the interview and uploaded all the documents in the portal yesterday. Today mrng all the document verification was completed. But when I got the call for offer discussion, she asked what u expect. I said 9-10 LPA. She questioned me that on what basis I am asking for this much hike. She offered me 6.3 LPA as CTC with 21% variable. 5.2 as basic. Rest part in comments..

Anyone here start out in PA and leave to go to law school and come back? I’ve been contemplating leaving and going to law school for years. I have 3 years of advisory experience primarily in financial services/ tech implementation/ and restructuring. Bs Accounting with a 3.2 gpa MBA with a 3.89gpa. Would love to hear advice on what I should consider.

I am up for a role asking for 5 YOE, but I have a few more. What’s the going rate for in house counsel in public accounting?

Anyone have a full-time Big 4 offer (JD/LLM) with a signing bonus in Dallas or similar COL? My recruiter says it’s not negotiable but if I know of someone from a competitor with a higher bonus then she can see what she can do.

I love international tax (in core) and don’t mind compliance at all but it’s been nearly 100% of what I do. Any ways of balancing out with more structuring/planning?

Some background: there’s only 3 of us IT locally and with the departure of our SM, the little structuring/planning work I do see will probably dry up when they leave. Do I network with other bigger offices to pick up that kind of work?

As a law student interested in going into the field I’ve seen a lot of negative comments saying that only lawyers who couldn’t get into big law go into PA. Although I know most people try to get into big law initially, it is very competitive and many don’t stay past 2-3 years. You certainly don’t make as much going into PA as a lawyer but the pay is certainly not bad and the WLB is generally much better. Can anyone speak to how they got into PA and if you would rather be working in Big Law
