Depends what you’re looking for. Planning to play games? PC. Everything else + longevity? The new mbp with the M1 chip
Pro
Gaming and cost* —> PC
Everything else I agree Mac
Personally I avoid Dell, those things are built poorly
I still use a MacBook from 2012 for browsing, streaming and other basic tasks and its performance hasn’t changed at all. I don’t think a PC from 2012 would hold up the same over the years.
I believe there was a recall of MBs from 2015 related to smoking. They were fixing them for free for the impacted models. Sounds like yours is one of them.
PC all day. Get way more bang for your buck with PC. If you’re looking at MacBook Pros, Dell XPS is a good one that should be in your price range.
I work in analytics and data science and love my MacBook for almost everything. [Power BI sucks but it sucks anyway]. Python runs better on the Unix shell. [trying to get Python to run on a PC is a nightmare] Excel has a few quirks but it’s not as bad as it used to be.
I LOVE Mac that being said most legal programs and court sites run better on a PC. Dell is good and makes work easier
I hate and love my MacBook Pro. I used PC until this year and only because I wanted the ease of use with my apple iPods and phone, which is very handy with airdrop etc. You get used to the Apple IOS. To me, Dell is very reliable and looks sleek now if you stick with PC.
If you’re looking for something last long time, performance, easy interact with other iOS/ MacOS devices and ok to pay little more then MacBook 💻 .
My first MacBook Pro 2012 and the only thing I did to it back then just upgraded the memory from 8GB to 16GB and still working very well. This year I purchased MacBook Pro 16” with 32GB because I’m using video editing and 3D modeling which make it smoother to render. Love the touch bar and how slick it is.
