I just keep seeing the “we have that cloud thing everyone’s talking about” video the Onion made ten years ago
Might wanna have an optometrist check that out
100% ^. Not unique to mark, all agencies have this mindset. We aren’t making art, we are making money for clients and ourselves - by whatever means possible
Exactly this.
As soon as AI is so much as passable, we will be replaced. Creatives in denial continue to wax on about AI’s failure at concepting but they miss the main point: agencies and clients don’t care about quality as long as it’s cheaper and leads to higher profits. Period.
The ONLY product an agency actually makes is creative, yet they basically give it away for free and choose to make their money off of media. That’s why C-suites will replace us as soon as they can.
Make no mistake, Mark’s job is to optimize the business for efficiency and shareholder value, not creativity. If companies value cheaper/faster more than the latter, then AI it is.
Why wouldn’t this happen? Give me one good reason. There’s already no reason to pay gaffers, lighting people, sound, set designers, wardrobe people who are super expensive this is antiquated thinking.
No.
We humans definitely need to step up our game.

“I think people are happier when they’re in the office. In our offices, they’re much happier,” Read said drily, igniting laughter in the crowd.
Yeah, sure. This guy really knows what’s up.
Of course there will be AI ads in the future. But people connect with brands who tap into the intangible human experience on some level. It's why every deck we get from agencies has words like "humanity" and "capturing the lived experience" blah blah blah. Will there be some AI ads on tv - yes, but there will eventually be a backlash to these weird uncanny valley ads and people will go back to shooting real people with real crews on glorious 35mm film!
