I have neither and I’m doing just fine.

MBA is more well-rounded for a base of knowledge whereas Master’s is more likely to be focused on a core discipline. Of the two, I would value the MBA more.

As a Compensation Professional, I would pay nothing extra for it over a Bachelor’s that also comes with experience. Very few roles really need a Bachelor’s degree, let alone a Master’s degree.

If the goal is to earn more money…focus on social networking skills and get people to want to promote and pay you.

I would imagine there are data supporting that MBA has the highest likelihood of more money but there will be outliers with other degrees. I have an MA and do very well but many of my grad school class mates entered government or NGO world and likely won’t be high earners for a long time, if ever

Do you already have experience and are you looking at managerial track? If so, MBA is better. If you’re looking to become a CPA, for most states you would need additional hours of accounting which essentially already earns an MSA degree (if you take the right courses). In general MBA’s seem to earn more, and have more exposure to networking.

Taking my shot in tech sales. Consulting was great experience but enjoyed the relationship and BD aspect more and didn’t see myself climbing to partner. Starting in a junior BD Rep role to learn prospecting and earn quota history. Took a big paycut for the potential future earnings as an Account Exec. Did I dun goof? Probably. But I’ll regret it forever if I didn’t take my chance now when I’m still single and young-ish.

Under contract to buy my first home - house hacking a triplex. Property has been leased by the same three tenants for the last 5+ yrs, rents haven’t been raised since they moved in. Market rents have risen 70-100% in the same timeframe. All seem like ideal tenants (retired and take great care of the units) but I’d like advice on how to approach the rent increase conversation. Rents don’t make/break my mortgage payment but I’m leaving a lot on the table if I don’t increase significantly.

I started QA at the company I am currently at 3 years ago. Long story short, within 4 months at the company, I was able to make a career change and step into a PM position. What would everyone think would be a good salary for a senior manager of digital product and strategy for an established fintech company? Comparably has 179k base as the median. Recruiter mentioned 173 as their all in top.

I’m interviewing with a startup and the range has a 40k difference from the lowest to highest point. It’s also pre-seed and comes with equity, and health, 401k benefits. It’s a director of sales role so I would eventually be recruiting and managing a team along with building the processes and strategy. What would you consider a fair compensation package? If they offer me something on the lower end of the range, is it still appropriate to counter with an offer that is over their stated range?

I received a job offer from company A and am currently negotiating salary. I have an interview with company B next week and know that they offer a higher base pay. There’s no guarantee that I will be offered a job at company B but my gut is telling me that company B would be a better fit for me. Should I accept the offer from company A, continue interview process with company B and then rescind my offer with company A if company B offers me a job? Will I be burning bridges?
