My advice is to hire an immigrant lawyer and ask them. Honestly. Immigration is complicated AF in the US
Your attorney would probably get the response from USCIS. But I am referring to firm answer from USCIS.
Does your dad have a green card? If so, he can travel out of the country for a certain amount of time. But again, get clarity from turn attorney about that.
Have you talked to your attorney about recent travel plans?

I wouldn’t recommend leaving the country cuz that’d give them an excuse to extend the investigation, hence delaying his citizenship. If your dad’s green card doesn’t expire soon he should still be able to travel out of the country though

Yeah the lawyer also said that having green card means that he is 100% set to travel
Are you able to call them to ask about whether he can leave the country? If you call first thing in the morning, the wait is not bad.

Tried but still didn’t go further than automated lady

As far as returning is concerned, if you have a valid authorization (green card or whatever it is), it shouldn’t be a problem. Unless you know what the “investigation” is and it’s something serious

Just talked to an attorney and he said there should not be a problem since he has a green card. When i asked for a written, he said why do i need it in written since the green card is the proof
