Hi! Are you based in NY? If so, then you should be entitled to 10 weeks maternity leave in 2019 by the state regardless of your employer’s policy .
You should still be able to take the full time away according to CA state law, you will likely be able to claim short term disability and claim state benefits as well for partial pay. You just won’t have paid leave for a good portion of your time off. Congrats!
Congratulations!! CA provides for short term disability/ maternity leave, which the company pays into and part of your salary goes towards, as well, so I think you should be covered.
How long will you have been there when baby is due? You could piece together some sick/vacation time with short-term disability, which would maybe cover you until you hit a year, and then paid maternity leave could kick in? Good luck and congrats!
I would have been there 9 months. Also secretly hoping that they will just give it to me 🤞
So I believe that you need to work somewhere for 12 months in order to qualify for paid family leave in CA which is why your company probably has that policy. You’ll likely qualify for disability but not sure about the 6-weeks bounding time.
I gave birth in 2017 and use to know this stuff a lot better but would recommend reading up here:

@Director I'm in LA. But I will look into what I am eligible for here. Thank you!
