Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Ok
I’m confused. You make $250 … K Annually? or $250 per hour? I don’t understand ‘middleman who keeps 70% of the payment’. The way I read that is, you’re billed out at $250 and you make $75.
Actually, the company I work with gives the middleman a monthly salary of around $900. Out of that, he keeps 70% himself and gives me 30%, which means I get about $250 per month. That’s why I want someone to refer me directly to a company for a related job, so I can earn the full amount myself.
Do you have a portfolio that you could use to start finding clients on your own? That would be my best advice. Figure out where all of the clients are and start pitching yourself.
Yes, I have a proper portfolio, and I also talk directly with clients, but I still haven’t been able to get a job in an international company where I can work long-term and in a professional way.

Is the middleman mostly a function of it being international or your portfolio?
The middleman applied for a job at an international media agency and got the job, which is remote. Then he hired me, and all the work the company gives him, I do it and send it back. But the salary goes to the middleman, and he gives me only 30% of it
Why are they keeping so much of your money? That sounds like a lot of your profits for them to be keeping. I would try negotiating a higher percentage for yourself.
I try to negotiate, but he doesn’t increase it much. Last time he only raised it by 5%, and even then he said he can only increase it by 5%. If I agree, fine otherwise he has other options as well.
I can give you perfect advice on that
