My direct supervisor isn’t the brightest and it’s increasing my workload exponentially. I gave the benefit of the doubt for a long time, but it’s hitting the point where it’s painfully obvious and I’m exhausted. Others have noticed the issue and raised concerns. That said, I’m not sure I expect anything to be done.

I don’t really want to look for a new job because I love everything else, but I’m also not sure how much more I can take. Any advice?

Give examples. make sure its not you and the others that are misunderstanding

Yes, examples of both (supervisor not being the brightest and how others have noticed), will be good to have before responding

I know these examples aren’t super clear, but I also don’t want to give away too much info:

1. Giving legal advice that is clearly incorrect (as confirmed by other senior attorneys);

2. Basing decisions on the law in a non-applicable jurisdiction (without reason); and

3. Falling into “rabbit holes” that are at best a waste of time and at worst contrary to the client’s best interests.

As far as how others have noticed (there are others, but mainly things I can’t share given how much info would be needed):

1. Other senior attorneys have voiced to me and amongst each other that they don’t wish to deal with supervisor; and

2. Other individuals in organization have reported issues with supervisor through confidential feedback mechanisms.

whats their age bracket if you can guess

You need to manage around them and make it easy for them to give you the thumbs up.

Make sure you’re asking leading questions, when submitting items for approval make your case bulletproof, etc.

Do everything you can to take work off their plate without challenging them and things will get even easier.

I am in the process of IVF due to my husband's male factor infertility. I am so grateful for the benefits that EY provides and wanted to know if there is any consideration for reevaluating those benefits? We know that IVF is incredibly expensive and for some of us, having children is a top priority. Does anyone know where or how we can petition for enhanced or shared benefits? I have ideas.

Hello!
I’m a student majoring in Software Engineering. I’m starting my third year in a few months and have an internship where I’m learning more about working with an actual team on real-world projects. However, I feel like I need to do more to stand out and have a stronger software background. Anyone have any tips or suggestions for what I should do on my own time to strengthen my skills?

I’m in discussions to become the GC of a mid size but international company that does ~$1 billion in annual revenue. Smallish legal department. They’ve asked for my comp expectations. I don’t have specific expectations but I want to be compensated at least market for a NYC based GC (which looks like cash comp of at least $300k plus bonus, etc). Any suggestions on how people would respond?

I’m in-house at a small company (60 people), started right out of law school about 5 years ago. We had a legal team of 5 then. Everyone has left and we just hired a new GC. I went from $70k to $100k a little over a year ago. I am expecting an offer from a firm doing business law work but think this might be an opportunity to go to my current employer and ask for a significant raise, with new offer in hand. Any thoughts or advice going into this?

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale. I’m stuck in my old pay scale but have gotten promotions and raises quickly with more on the horizon. A recruiter reached out with a new role for 2-2.5x more than I currently make doing something similar. I love my company and the people I work with but the money isn’t there. Is it worth trying to get a counter to stay if I get the bigger offer?
