Hugging someone is usually done while standing. Cuddling is done in bed while horizontal, and is totally different. Where do you live - maybe it's acceptable in your culture, or you would like to believe that it is acceptable. But if your girlfriend says that it's wrong, you need to decide which relationship is more important.
